Course Description
This course examines the progression of development in the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains and identifies the major developmental milestones of children, both typical and atypical, from conception through adolescence. Physical, psychosocial, and cognitive development are studied, with an emphasis on the interactions between biological processes and environmental factors including language, culture, and diversity. Students will observe children, evaluate individual differences, and analyze characteristics of development at various stages according to developmental theory. Recommended Prep: ENGL V01A. Course Description
This course introduces major periods and styles of art across time and diverse cultures. Painting, sculpture, and architecture from prehistoric times to Post-Modernism will be explored with particular emphasis on the art object as a form of cultural and social expression. Works of art will be considered through the study of theory, concepts and terminology, themes, design principles, media, and techniques. Field trips may be required. Course Description
Introduces a variety of concepts and practices for muscular and cardiovascular conditioning, focusing on the core of the body. Presents movement skills using aerobics, body weight, balance or resistance props, and other appropriate techniques to enhance core and cardiovascular fitness, and weight management.
