Oxnard College will resume normal operations, including regularly scheduled classes and events effective Saturday, November 9, 2024. As a reminder, OC will be closed on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11 and the campus will be open as scheduled on Tuesday, November 12.
Update 11/8/24 12:15 p.m.
- All three college campuses are closed for Friday.
- Moorpark College has now cancelled online instruction and services in response to the increase in power outages and fire activity impacting their service area.
- Ventura College has cancelled or rescheduled most weekend events.
- Oxnard College is continuing to monitor air quality and power availability.
- The District offices remain open. Our building and surrounding area remain safe; we have stable electricity and our building air-conditioning units continue to filter the air. We contacted the City of Camarillo and confirmed that our water supply is healthy. While Pleasant Valley Mutual Water Company and Crestview Mutual Water Company (the water services that serve the neighborhoods within the evacuation zones) have issued Unsafe Water Alerts, the City of Camarillo services our water supply.

Due to the current conditions impacting the area, Oxnard College, Ventura College, and East Campus will remain closed on Friday, November 8. This closure affects all operations, events, and instruction, including online Live Zoom and in-person classes. Essential employees remain on the campuses in order to monitor the situation and address any immediate needs that arise. Moorpark College also remains closed, however, online instruction and services are continued.
The District Administrative Center will remain open. Please know that your safety and well-being are incredibly important to us. We are closely monitoring the situation to prioritize the safety of students, employees, and visitors.

Due to the current conditions impacting the area, through the end of Thursday, November 7, Moorpark College has canceled on ground instruction and services tomorrow, and Oxnard College, Ventura College and East Campus will remain closed. These closures affect all operations, events, and instruction, including online and hybrid classes.
District leadership is actively monitoring the wind conditions, air quality, power, and evacuation orders. Students and employees in areas impacted should prioritize their safety. The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) continues to monitor weather conditions to prioritize the safety of students, employees, and visitors. 11/6/24: VCCCD Campus Closure Due to Extreme Wind Event
Due to an extreme wind event impacting Ventura County, Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Ventura College, and Ventura College East Campus are closed as of this morning, November 6, 2024. This closure affects all in-person classes, campus operations, and events at these campuses. Online classes will continue as scheduled.
