This course will include a complete review of Spanish grammar and syntax, training in oral and written expression with reading and discussion of selected pieces from literature and other sources. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: SPAN V02 or 2 years of high school Spanish with a grade or C or better, or equivalent. Course Description
This course is part of a sequence designed to provide introductory experiences in Spanish, including pronunciation, aural comprehension, oral and written communication, word usage and vocabulary, reading of prose, and elementary principles of grammar. Special emphasis will be given to development of oral and aural skills through the use of communicative activities. Cultural material will be presented to develop interest, understanding, and appreciation for the lifestyle of the Hispanic people. This course is equivalent to two years of high school Spanish. Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental techniques, aesthetic vision, and language of photography as a tool for communication, from its analogue roots to contemporary digital platforms. Students learn to operate SLR-style cameras for proper exposure, and students will use both film and digital capture, learning appropriate workflows from capture to print. The course includes demonstrations, lab work, readings, photographic shooting assignments, and critiques. Students may work with their own cameras or check-out cameras through the department.
