The OC Career Center and Proyecto Éxito would like to invite you to our Career Day 2022 Event.

This in-person event is designed to connect students with industry experts and learn more about the various career pathways. Students will have the opportunity to meet with professionals and discuss the different options available in fields such as:

  • Computer Networking
  • Legal & Law Enforcement
  • Non-Profit Work
  • Healthcare
  • K-12; Higher Education
  • Defense
  • Manufacturing
  • Food & Beverage, Culinary
  • and more!

Industry partners include Meissner Filtration Products, Inc., E. & J. Gallo Winery, Clinicas del Camino Real, Western NRG, Ventura County Probation Agency, Tri Counties Regional Center, SAGE Services, Pleasant Valley School District, NurseCore Management Services LLC, NAVSEA, National Park Service, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard & Port Hueneme, and Autonomous University of Guadalajara UAG - School of Medicine.

Career Speaker Series: Law

Career Speaker Series: Law

The OC Career Center and Proyecto Éxito proudly present the Career Speaker Series. This event will focus on Law -- a discussion and Q&A with panelists will provide students with a chance to explore the career pathways and learn about different opportunities within the field.

Industry experts include:

  • Gilbert Romero (Judge)
  • Melissa Melendez (Paralegal)
  • Evan Hess (Attorney)
  • Dien Le (Attorney)
  • Andy Souza (Probation Officer)

This event will be hosted both in-person and via Zoom. Students are advised to sign up to be part of the event. Zoom links will be automatically emailed and in-person attendees will have refreshments provided.

  • For in-person: please arrive at Performing Arts Building - Conference Center by 3:45 - 4pm to check in.
  • For Zoom: please refer to the email with the Zoom link.

This session will be recorded and the Zoom recording will be available to students following the event.

OC LIVE Event: An Evening with Filipino-American Artist – Eliseo Art Silva

OC LIVE invites you to join us in a celebration of Filipino-American Art and Culture on Wednesday, October 26th at 5:30pm in the beautiful Oxnard College Performing Arts Building (PAB). OC LIVE, in collaboration with the McNish Gallery of Art, is thrilled to present “Fiesta Apocalypse,” a solo art lecture and exhibit featuring the work of contemporary Filipino painter, Eliseo Art Silva. Immediately following Mr. Silva’s lecture, there will be a traditional Filipino dance performance by Sonia Armedilla of the Salin Lahi dance troupe. Additionally, we invite you to attend the art exhibit and a reception for the artist (hosted by the Filipino American Council of Ventura County, Inc.) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Oxnard College McNish Gallery of Art. A Conversation with Dr. Frank Barajas

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, please join Oxnard College on Thursday, October 13th, from 12:30pm - 2:00pm for “A Conversation with Dr. Frank Barajas.” This event will take place in the Oxnard College Performing Arts Building (PAB) or join us online: bit.ly/OCHHM2022. Following Dr. Barajas will be a panel discussion with local leaders: Vianey Lopez, Ventura County Supervisor;  David Olivas, Vice-President of the Latinx Bar Association; and Guadalupe Guadian, Captain of the Santa Paula Brown Berets.

About Dr. Barajas:
Dr. Barajas is a professor and chair of history at California State University Channel Islands. Born and raised in the City of Oxnard, Dr. Barajas attended its public schools and obtained degrees at Moorpark College; California State University, Fresno; and the Claremont Graduate University. He is the author of Mexicans with Moxie: A Transgenerational History of El Movimiento Chicano in Ventura County, California, 1945-1975 and Curious Unions: Mexican American Workers and Resistance in Oxnard, California, 1898-1961. In addition to his academic work, Professor Barajas has published op-eds in The History News Network, The History News Service, The Bakersfield Californian, Perspectives on History, and the Ventura County Star.

OC LIVE Presents “Flamenco!”

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

OC Live is on the dance floor with “Flamenco!” music and dance. Join us Wednesday, October 5th at 6pm in the beautiful Oxnard College Performing Arts Building (PAB). Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Flamenco! The passionate strumming of guitars, the thundering rhythms created by dancers' feet striking the stage — this is Flamenco in its pure essence. Bring your flowers, fans and castanets and get ready to yell "Olé!" as Wendy Castellanos-Wolf and the Flamenco805 dancers set the stage on fire with their entrancing movements and heart-wrenching expression.
