Course Description
This course provides an overview of the scientific study of psychology in the areas of neuroscience, sensation and perception, states of consciousness, learning and memory, intellect and cognition, language, lifespan development and the influences of heredity and environment on behavior, motivation, sexuality, emotion, personality, stress and coping, psychological disorders, psychotherapy, and social relations. Field trips may be required. Recommended Prep: ENGL V02 or eligibility to enroll in English Composition (ENGL V01A) as determined by the college's multiple measures assessment process. Course Description
This foundation course explores materials, concepts, techniques, and processes in ceramics, including basic design principles, creative development, hand-building, throwing, glaze techniques, firing, and ceramic terminology. Emphasis is placed on personal exploration within the context of historical and contemporary developments across cultures. Evaluation and critique of aesthetics and the creative development of clay objects, including historical examples of ceramics from various cultures, historical periods, and aesthetic sensibilities will be discussed during the lab and lecture hours. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of making, decorating, and firing. Field trips may be required. Formerly: ART 51A. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.

Course Description
This laboratory course provides experiences in applying the principles and techniques of biological anthropology. Topics will include: the Scientific Method, Mendelian and molecular genetics, population genetics, variation in contemporary human populations, forensics, comparative vertebrate anatomy, human osteology, primatology, and comparative human fossil morphology. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: ANTH V01 or concurrent enrollment. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.
