Tom Stough
Hello, OC community...I am the one and only full-time librarian at Oxnard College. I came in Spring 2000 after working at public libraries in Los Angeles and Oklahoma City. I was also a private law librarian in LA from 1992-2000. (That is, I worked for a big law firm.)
Fast forward: a few years ago, a student asked me: "what do librarians do, anyway?" I narrowed that down to two things here at Oxnard:
1. selecting electronic resources (aka, databases, e-books) and physical information resources (aka, "paper-and-glue" books) to support OC's classes and students.
2. teaching students how to use these resources.
Sometimes, you may see me as a guest lecturer in one of your classes, with a "show" tailored to your professor's expectations. More often, you'll speak with me one-on-one in the Library (when we're fully reopened after COVID) and/or on Zoom and/or with links in a Canvas module. Please also check my research guides and videos as self-service options.
And to read about the latest from the Library, check out our Library Learning Resource Center News page.
Sincerely,
Tom
