Course Description
This course surveys the major artistic and architectural developments of Ancient Greece, Rome, and the Near East. The comparative analysis of social, religious, political, and economic messages sent by the objects and monuments under consideration will elucidate patterns of interaction and adaptation through time and space. It will also allow examination of collaboration and/or competition at artistic as well as at social and political levels. Recommended Prep: ENGL V01A or concurrent enrollment. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.
