Course Description
Work Experience Education provides supervised employment extending classroom occupational learning at an on-the-job learning station relating to the students’ educational or occupational goals. Each unit of credit requires 54 hours of employment during the semester. Work Experience Education is available to all students with employment. Field trips may be required. Recommended Prep: Students should contact the instructor and review the requirements for 3 units of credit. Transfer credit: CSU. Notes: Students may enroll in up to 14 units of work experience education per semester or term; There is no limit to the number of terms for which a student may enroll in work experience education.

Course Description
This is a writing course that emphasizes critical reading, expository and argumentative writing, and mastery of library research techniques. It includes instruction and practice in critical thinking; analytical reading and evaluation of written work, including at least one book-length work of significant literature; and communicating and supporting ideas in organized, coherent essays. Students are required to write a minimum of 5000 formal words, including a research project, based on essays, literature read in class, personal experience, and college-level research. Prerequisites: ENGL V02 or placement as measured by the college assessment process. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. Formerly: ENGL 1A.
