Course Description
This course introduces students to concepts, theories, and applications of two-dimensional composition in the visual arts using the elements of line, shape, texture, value, color, and spatial illusion. It considers historic as well as contemporary examples and provides an essential background in design theory and applications including the elements and principles of design. Students will develop a visual vocabulary for creative expression through lecture presentations, studio projects, problem solving, and written assignments. Field trips may be required.
