Course Description
This course provides introductory instruction in drawing the human figure from observation, using live models and a wide variety of drawing media and techniques. Topics include an introduction to human anatomy, historical and contemporary roles of figure drawing in the visual arts, and theory and practice in the uses of linear and tonal form. Students will complete exercises in structure, proportion, foreshortening, and composition and will learn both descriptive and interpretive approaches to drawing the figure. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: ART V12A. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. Formerly: ART 13A.
