This course provides an overview, from a psychological perspective, of human development from conception through death, including biological and environmental influences. Theories and research of physical, cognitive, personality, and social/emotional development are examined and applied to studies of typically and atypically developing individuals at various points in their lifespan and within the context of a family. This is an introductory course designed to provide the student with basic communication skills in Japanese. Emphasis is on listening, speaking, reading and writing Japanese. Study of basic grammatical principles and Japanese pronunciation are also emphasized. Students are introduced to the use of Japanese characters. The history and culture of the Japanese people will be discussed. Web-based resources will be used to supplement classroom instruction. This course is equivalent to two years of high school Japanese.
