The Moorpark College Symphony Orchestra and Choral & Vocal Program kick off the year with an inspiring and ambitious program exploring themes of love, loss, and hope. The program opens with the sobering and melancholic Schicksalslied (“Song of Destiny”), Op. 54 by Johannes Brahms for full orchestra and chorus, then shifts to an inspiring new work by living composer Jake Runestad called “The Hope of Loving” for string quartet and chamber chorus. The program concludes with the rousing and uplifting Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven for orchestra and symphonic chorus, to include the rhapsodic “Ode to Joy” fourth movement. This is a captivating program that you won’t want to miss!
