In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, please join Oxnard College on Thursday, October 13th, from 12:30pm - 2:00pm for “A Conversation with Dr. Frank Barajas.” This event will take place in the Oxnard College Performing Arts Building (PAB) or join us online: bit.ly/OCHHM2022. Following Dr. Barajas will be a panel discussion with local leaders: Vianey Lopez, Ventura County Supervisor;  David Olivas, Vice-President of the Latinx Bar Association; and Guadalupe Guadian, Captain of the Santa Paula Brown Berets.

About Dr. Barajas:
Dr. Barajas is a professor and chair of history at California State University Channel Islands. Born and raised in the City of Oxnard, Dr. Barajas attended its public schools and obtained degrees at Moorpark College; California State University, Fresno; and the Claremont Graduate University. He is the author of Mexicans with Moxie: A Transgenerational History of El Movimiento Chicano in Ventura County, California, 1945-1975 and Curious Unions: Mexican American Workers and Resistance in Oxnard, California, 1898-1961. In addition to his academic work, Professor Barajas has published op-eds in The History News Network, The History News Service, The Bakersfield Californian, Perspectives on History, and the Ventura County Star.
