Currently, the VCCCD Police Department offers two safety presentations aimed at providing students, faculty, and staff the knowledge to respond to emergencies on campus, as well as general campus safety tips. These presentations are designed to fit into classroom lectures and are provided by well-trained and knowledgeable police officers. The safety presentations are only available to VCCCD faculty and staff and may be requested by professors and staff to be provided in classrooms for students, individual department trainings, committee meetings, flex training, or any other similar venue.
Below are the presentations offered by the Department. To schedule an appointment contact the station lieutenant assigned to your college campus.
Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events
The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course is a lecture presentation on active shooter events in colleges and universities. Participants will learn about active attackers, the physiological response to disasters, and how to prepare for and respond to being trapped inside a building during an active shooter event. The participants will also learn what steps to take to assist law enforcement in these events and to limit casualties.
The CRASE course was designed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training organization and has become the national standard for civilian response to active shooter events. The police officer instructing this course is a certified CRASE instructor.
DURATION: CRASE presentations typically run 50-60 minutes.

The VCCCD Police Department provides college-specific presentations on general campus safety presentations. Topics discussed in these presentations include district policies, college rules and regulations, police department resources and services available to students, faculty, and staff, how to report crimes, as well as recommendations on how to stay safe on our campuses.
Each presentation is tailored to the specific the campus where it is being presented. For example, Moorpark College classes will receive information specific to Moorpark College. Should a professor request additional information for other campuses (i.e. Oxnard and Ventura Colleges), they may request those presentations as well.
DURATION: Campus safety presentations typically run 15-30 minutes per campus presentation.
