FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
February 13, 2017
ACCJC reaffirmed accreditation to Ventura County Community College District colleges, Feb. 2017.
Following the accreditation visits from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC), in September 2016, Chancellor Bernard Luskin, is pleased to announce the commission reaffirmed accreditation for 18 months for Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura colleges.
After careful review of the Institutional Self-Evaluation Reports and evidentiary materials submitted by each institution, the ACCJC determined that each college “is in substantial compliance” with Eligibility Requirements, Accreditation Standards and Commission policies for reaffirmation. An 18-month review of recommended improvements noted in the evaluations followed by a visit to each campus by Commission representatives will be scheduled.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased with the findings of the ACCJC,” stated VCCCD Board Chair Bernardo Perez. “The Board is proud of the hard work the colleges put forth in the self-evaluation reports and look forward to supporting the college presidents in meeting any recommended improvements suggested by the ACCJC,” added Perez.
The ACCJC’s Eligibility Requirements and Standards may be found on the ACCJC website at www.accjc.org.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bernard Luskin
Chancellor

California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice W. Harris Comments on Release of 2015 Chancellor’s Office Task Force Report on Accreditation (August 28, 2015)
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice W. Harris issued the following statement on today's release of the report by the 2015 Chancellor's Office Task Force Report on Accreditation:
"I'd like to thank the task force members for their work on this document. I generally agree with the findings and believe that it is in the best interest of our 2.1 million students that we begin a conversation focused on changing the way our colleges are accredited in the future. Regional accreditation is vitally important in helping to ensure academic quality, but the current approach is not serving our colleges and students well. I look forward to discussing these recommendations with our shared governance body and with the Board of Governors to seek their input."

Chancellor Jamillah Moore commented on the findings, stating, "In the spirit of continuous improvement, College and District staff and the Board worked together to ensure compliance in all areas recommended by the Commission. It was a team effort that resulted in a rewarding outcome."
As part of the regular accreditation evaluation cycle, the Colleges are required to submit midterm reports to the Commission in October 2013.
